We have an immediate opening for a Geotechnical/Civil Engineer.

Marvin E. Davis & Associates, Inc., a provider of geotechnical and specialty civil engineering services in the Northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe, California regions for over 25 years, has an immediate opening for Geotechnical / Civil Engineer.

The most qualified candidate will have the following:

    • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering is required;

    • M.S in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering is preferred;

    • Licensure as Professional Engineer in Nevada and/or California is not required but is beneficial;

    • Minimum 4 years of geotechnical/civil engineering-related experience in the following is required:

      ·   Participation in a variety of projects with include geotechnical investigation and design, site design, plan preparation, permitting, and construction;

      ·   Field and project management experience associated with subsurface investigation, forensic investigation, and construction-phase materials testing;

      ·   Working experience with AutoCAD (2013 or later)

    • Strong technical and analytical skills verified by samples of engineering reports and work substantially prepared by candidate;

    • Initiative, resourcefulness and motivation in resolving site preparation and engineering design problems. Decision making skills and ability to work independently;

    • Strong technical and analytical skills verified by samples of engineering reports and work substantially prepared by candidate;

    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment on various projects.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform geotechnical studies and analysis, and generate technical reports for a wide variety of projects including private, commercial, industrial, and public works;

  • Perform geotechnical field investigations, including monitoring/observing test drilling and sampling; logging test borings, and test pits; classifying soil types and consistency, and preparing field reports summarizing geotechnical field activities and site descriptions;

  • Specialized engineering analysis related to foundation and wall design, slope stability, site grading, drainage, surface hydrology, onsite disposal, shoreline protection, and materials engineering;

  • Generate technical proposals for a wide variety of projects;

  • Acts as interface with clients for assigned projects; communicates with clients on an ongoing basis; responds effectively to meet client needs.
